If you’re a UK citizen who is looking to travel abroad and considering South Africa as the destination then this announcement applies to you. If you’re currently preparing to submit your visa application to any of the centres around the UK you should take note.
Please note the following closing dates for the South African High Commission in London and the South African Visa Application Centres across the UK:
- 16th of December 2016 for the South African Day of Reconciliation
- 24th of December 2016 till the 2nd of January 2017 for the festive season
- 23rd December 2016 the High Commission will close at 10h00
- 23rd of December 2016 the Department of Home Affairs at 15 Whitehall will be closed for the public
If you cannot submit your application in time and these dates affect your current arrangement you will have to wait until these offices re-open to the public on 3 January 2017.
Avoid the dates listed above and save yourself any additional anguish going into 2017 and make your travelling to South Africa a little less stressful. Enjoy the festive break and we hope to see you on our shores very soon.

Short Stay Visa Applications
If you wish to visit South Africa over this festive period for a short stay visa you will need to need to book an appointment and submit your application before or on the 13th of December at the London branch only.
If you are applying for a short stay visa from Manchester or Edinburgh, you will need to apply on or before 9 December 2016 to allow for processing time.
